# Introduction

> Set up Discord role verification for holders, members, and linked accounts.

Gating lets you grant and remove Discord roles automatically based on rules you configure in Flipsuite. Use it to
verify holders, create access tiers, gate private channels, and keep roles in sync as member status changes.

## What can you do with gating

* Verify token holders, NFT holders, and point holders.
* Check Discord-based eligibility, including account age and roles from other servers.
* Gate access using linked X account requirements like followers or subscriptions.
* Connect custom API-based rules to your own product or backend.
* Monitor roles refresh status and verified members from the dashboard.

## How gating works

1. Create one or more rules in the **Gating** area of your community dashboard.
2. Choose which Discord role each rule should grant.
3. Post the verification panel to a public channel in your server.
4. Members verify and Flipsuite checks every configured rule.
5. Flipsuite grants or removes roles immediately.
6. After verification Flipsuite keeps the roles in sync with refreshes.
